Individuals of the same species of frog can look very different from one another. The green frog at right is most common, while the blue frog is found primarily along the Pacific coast of Panama.

Not all tropical frogs are poisonous. The bright colors of these nocturnal, non-poisonous frogs above may startle a would-be predator just long enough for the frog to escape.
