STUDY SITES - Northern Vietnam - TUYEN QUANG

* Note: Tuyen Quang is the southern portion of the former province Ha Tuyen.

Total Area: 5,801 sq.km
Population: 675,110
Provincial Capital: Tuyen Quang
Districts: Na Hang, Chiem Hoa, Ham Yen, Yen Son, Son Duong

Economic potentialities: land, forestry, mineral resources.

PHYSICAL Tuyen Quang is characterized by majestic elevated mountains with peaks exceeding 2,000 m above sea level.

ETHNIC DIVERSITY More than half of the province's population consists of the Kinh ethnic group; there are also Tay, Dao, and Nung ethnic groups.

CLIMATE The tropical climate influenced by north Asian climate is divided in two seasons; dry cold winter and hot rainy summer. The province has an annual average temperature of 22°C and an average rainfall varying between 1500 and 1800 mm.
