The peak season of spring bloom has begun and will continue into mid-May. Flowering
cherries are at peak bloom in the Japanese Garden.
Daffodils are very showy in the bulb borders. Tulips are just beginning to bloom.
Magnolias are past peak bloom, but still very showy. Forsythia is in full bloom
throughout the Garden.
Both native (Cercis canadensis) and Chinese (Cercis chinensis)
redbuds are beginning to bloom. Some crabapples will be flowering by the week’s
end.
Early Azaleas are blooming in the Rhododendron Garden.
Large drifts of Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa sardensis) carpet the ground
in the Mausoleum Garden.
Camellias are past peak bloom in the Linnean House, but many are still quite showy.
Fragrant Pink jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) in the hanging baskets perfumes the
air in this conservatory.
Hellebores are blooming in many locations on the grounds. Many specimens can be
found in the English Woodland and Kemper Gardens.
