Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom

April 16 - April 22, 2004

The peak season of spring bloom continues. Tulips in the Milles Sculpture
and Swift Family Gardens are at peak bloom. Daffodils and Hyacinths are past
peak but still very showy.

Redbuds, White redbuds and Dogwoods are at peak bloom throughout the grounds.

Azaleas in the Lehmann Rose and Lopata Azalea and Rhododendron Gardens are at
peak bloom this week.

Kwanzan cherries, Dogwoods and Azaleas are in full bloom in the Japanese
Garden. The Wisteria on the arbor overhanging the shore of Teahouse Island is
at peak bloom. The emerging foliage of the Japanese maples is very showy.

Crabapples are past peak bloom, but many are still showy.

Virginia bluebells and woodland wildflowers are very showy in the English
Woodland Garden. The large patch of Blued-eyed Mary just east of the bog
garden is particularly noteworthy.

Tree peonies in the Chinese Garden are in full bloom.

Blue and white Wood hyacinths carpet the ground in the Mausoleum Garden.

Pansies in the Kemper Flower Trial Garden are outstanding this week.

Indian paintbrush is beginning to flower in the Kemper Prairie Garden.

Woodland wildflowers are very showy in the Martha Love Symington Missouri
Native Shade Garden.

Flowers and fragrances of spring delight your senses in the Shoenberg
Temperate House.

Camellias are past peak bloom in the Linnean House, but some are still
flowering. The fancy leaves of the Rex begonias add color and texture to
the understory.
