Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom

March 26 - April 1, 2004

The peak season of spring bloom has arrived. Magnolias throughout the
grounds are in full bloom.

Flowering cherries in Seiwa-En, the Japanese Garden are in full bloom.

Daffodils and early minor bulbs are at peak bloom in the bulb borders. Tulips
are beginning to flower.

Redbuds and some early crabapples throughout the grounds will be in bloom by
week’s end.

Early azaleas are blooming now in the Lopata Azalea and Rhododendron Garden.

Daffodils, Virginia bluebells, and woodland wildflowers are becoming showy in
the English Woodland Garden.

Large drifts of blue Squill (Scilla siberica) and Glory-of-the-Snow
(Chionodoxa spp.) brighten the understory in the Mausoleum Garden.

Forsythia on the Knolls are at peak bloom. The ‘Gold Tide’ forsythia in the
Kemper Flower Borders, a Plant of Merit, is very showy.

Winterhazels (Corylopsis spp.) in the Jenkins Daylily and English
Woodland gardens are showy.

Tree peonies will be flowering in the Chinese Garden before week’s end.

Flowers and fragrances of spring delight your senses in the Shoenberg Temperate
House.

Camellias are past peak bloom in the Linnean House, bu many are still showy.
The fancy leaves of the Rex begonias add color and texture to the understory.
