Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom
AT A GLANCE
November 22 - November 28, 2002
-
The fragrant Eastern witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana) is in bloom in
many locations on the grounds. Large specimens can be found at the south end
of the Jenkins Daylily Garden and by the circular driveway south of the English
Woodland Garden.
-
Only some trees can still be found with showy autumn foliage. The large Persian
ironwood (Parrotia persica) in the English Woodland Garden is a rich,
dark yellow this week.
-
Chrysanthemums in the Pring Memorial Garden in the Japanese Garden are still
blooming.
-
Yellow daisies (Argyranthemum frutescens'Maggie'), purple Mexican bush
sage (Salvia leucantha) and rose colored cyclamen (Cyclamen
'Concerto Rose Pink Louisa') brighten the tiled Moorish Garden.
-
Enjoy the rich aroma of fragrant olive (Osmanthus fragrans) in the Linnean
House. The earliest of the camellias are blooming, giving a hint of the show to
come this winter. The bright blue blossoms of the Cape leadwort vine
(Plumbago auriculata) fill the windows.
