Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom

AT A GLANCE

September 27 - October 3, 2002

• The Hardshelled gourds (Lagenaria siceraria) hanging from the Grape Arbor in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening are a sight to see!

• Showy Tropical water lilies are blooming in the Milles Sculpture Garden pools. Many unusual aquatic plants are on display in the pools in the Swift Family Garden.

• Roses in the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens are in full seasonal bloom.

• The deep purple blossoms of the evergreen wisteria (Millettia reticulata) grace the arbor in the Shoenberg Temperate House. Brilliant red coleus (Solenostemon scutellaroides 'Kingswood Torch') and yellow daisies (Argyranthemum frutescens 'Maggie') brighten the tiled Moorish Garden.

• Flowing out of the windows of the Linnean House are the bright blue blossoms of the Cape leadwort vine (Plumbago auriculata). Showy red Spider lilies (Lycoris radiata) can also be seen through the windows.
