The peak of spring bloom continues with Flowering dogwoods and Azaleas in full
bloom throughout the grounds.

Tree peonies (Paeonia suffruticosa) are at peak bloom in the Grigg
Nanjing Chinese Friendship Garden.

The Giant dogwood (Cornus controversa) by the tram path north of the Lehmann
Building is a magnificent sight this week.

Woodland wildflowers are showy in the English Woodland Garden.

Large drifts of white and blue Spanish bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica)
color the understory in the Mausoleum Garden.

Standard Dwarf bearded and many Tall bearded iris are now in bloom in the
Goodmann Iris Garden.

The Princess trees (Paulownia tomentosa) are blooming in the Knolls.

Don't miss the unusual and beautiful flowers of the carnivorous American pitcher
plants (Sarracenia sp.) in the Shoenberg Temperate House. Accompanying the
carnivores in the bog are the blossoms of Rose pogonia orchid (Pogonia
ophioglossoides). The California slope is ablaze with the bright colors of
annual wildflowers.

The sweet aroma of jasmine (Trachelospermum mandianum) wafts through the
Linnean House. Also stop to smell the bright yellow fragrant blooms of the
Canary Island broom (Genista canariensis). Double impatiens
(Impatiens walleriana 'Fiesta Lavender Orchid') are featured in the
hanging baskets.
