Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom

June 15 - June 21, 2001

The large grove of fragrant Bottlebrush buckeyes in the Knolls are in
full bloom.

Roses in the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens are at the peak of seasonal
bloom and very showy.

Japanese iris (Iris ensata) are past peak bloom in Seiwa-En, the
Japanese Garden.

Oakleaf hydrangeas (Hydrangea quercifolia) are blooming in many locations
on the grounds.

Smell the rich aroma of gardenias in the Shoenberg Temperate House
(Gardena augusta 'Mystery' and Gardena cornuta.) Look for
the lovely flowers of the Caper vines (Capparis spinosa); the
caper you eat is the bud of this flower.

The miniature gardenia (Gardena augusta 'Radicans') is blooming in
the Linnean House. Double impatiens (Impatiens walleriana 'Fiesta
Salmon Sunrise') and Chenile (Acalypha pendula 'Firetails') are
featured in the hanging baskets.
