Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom
AT A GLANCE
September 1 - September 7, 2000
-
Roses in both the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens are at the peak of
seasonal bloom.
-
Tropical waterlilies are blooming in the pools in the Milles Sculpture
Garden. The fruity fragrance of the Victoria waterlilies perfumes the
evening air.
-
Tardiva hydrangeas (Hydrangea paniculata 'Tardiva') are blooming in many
locations on the grounds.
-
Figs are ripening high above the walled Moorish garden in the Shoenberg
Temperate House. Look for the bright purple berries of the American
beautyberry (Callicarpa americana).
-
The colorful foliage of Rex begonias is particularly showy in the Linnean
House, accompanied by lush Impatiens (Impatiens 'Tempo Series').
New Guinea impatiens (Impatiens hawkeri 'Paradise Lavender Blue')
and Kangaroo ferns (Microsorium diversifolium) are featured in
hanging baskets.
