Tall bearded iris are at peak bloom in the Goodman Iris Garden.
Look for the Giant dogwood (Cornus controversa) now in bloom near the
tram path just east of the English Woodland Garden.
Azaleas are past peak bloom, but many are still nice. Large-flowered
rhododendrons are showy throughout the Garden.
Shrub roses are near peak bloom in the Lehmann Rose Garden. Climbers
are becoming showy in the Gladney Rose Garden. Floribunda, grandiflora,
and hybrid tea roses in these gardens are now beginning to bloom.
Easter lilies (Lilium longiflorum), Hydrangeas (Hydrangea
macrophylla) and deep Blue daisies (Cineraria 'Miss
Yokohama') decorate the tiled Moorish Garden in the Shoenberg Temperate
House. The bog is particularly showy right now, featuring the unusual
and beautiful blossoms of the carnivorous Pitcher plants (Sarracenia
sp.). Look upstairs for the showy red blossoms of the Australian
bottlebrush trees (Callistemon sp.).
The rich fragrance of Jasmine (Jasminum polyanthemum) accompanies
the last lingering blossoms of the camellia trees in the Linnean House.
The bright yellow flower spikes of the Canary Island broom (Genista
canariensis) surround the central water feature.
