The groves of Bottlebrush buckeyes in the Knolls are exceptional
this week.
Roses are outstanding in both the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens,
with modern hybrids and some climbers in full bloom this week.
Japanese iris in Seiwa-En, the Japanese Garden continue in full
bloom.
Astilbes and Lilies are showy in the English Woodland Garden. The
flowers of many Hostas are also noteworthy.
Hardy lilies and Ornamental alliums are blooming in the Heckman and
Samuels Bulb Gardens.
Many Daylilies in the Jenkins Daylily Garden are now in bloom.
Oakleaf hydrangeas and Smooth hydrangeas are showy in many locations
on the grounds.
Hardy water lilies in the pool at the base of the Dry Stream Bed in
the Knolls are in bloom.
The fragrances of Jasmine and Gardenias fill the Shoenberg Temperate
House. The biblical garden features the beautiful orange blossoms of
the Pomegranate tree (Punica granatum 'Wonderful') and the showy
flowers of the Caper vine (Capparis spinosa).
Colorful Impatiens (Impatiens walleriana 'Dazzler Series') line the
winding brick path in the cool shady Linnean House.
The Yarrow and Coreopsis trials in the Lois Whiteside Franklin
Flower Trial Garden at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening are at peak
bloom. Don't miss the display of new 'Solar' series Coleus that
thrive in sunny areas.
Tropical water lilies in the pools in the Milles Sculpture Garden
are beginning to bloom. The pools in the Swift Family Garden contain
many unusual species.
