Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom

Roses are outstanding in both the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens,
with modern hybrids and many climbers at peak bloom this week.

Japanese iris in Seiwa-En, the Japanese Garden are at peak bloom
this week.

Astilbes and Columbines are very showy in the English Woodland
Garden.

Oakleaf hydrangeas and Smooth hydrangeas are showy in many locations
on the grounds.

Hardy waterlilies in the pool at the base of the Dry Stream Bed in
the Knolls are now in bloom.

Carnivorous plants are blooming and eating heartily in the Shoenberg
Temperate House. Look for the tiny rabbit-shaped flowers on the
carnivorous Bladderwort (Utricularia sandersonii), giving it the
common name of Rabbit ears. Hydrangeas are particularly showy this
week, especially the Lacecap hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla
'Mariesii').

The sweet fragrance of Star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides)
permeates the air in the Linnean House. Colorful Impatiens (Impatiens
walleriana 'Dazzler Series') line the winding brick path.

Climbing roses on the Overlook and fragrant Shrub roses in the
Fragrance Garden in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening are very showy.

You'll never see a finer display of Indian paintbrush (Castilleja
coccinea) than the planting in the Lucy and Stanley Lopata Prairie
Garden at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening. Penstemons and Lanceleaf
coreopsis are also showy in this garden.

Yarrows in the Lois Whiteside Franklin Flower Trial Garden at the
Center for Home Gardening are at peak bloom.

Some Japanese and a few Louisiana and Spuria iris are flowering in
the Goodman Iris Garden.

Tropical water lilies in the pools in the Milles Sculpture Garden
are beginning to bloom.
