As the blooms fade outside, the flowers come to life inside the Shoenberg Temperate House. Snapdragons, Cyclamen and Jasmine decorate the walled Moorish Garden.
Poinsettias, Cyclamen and early-blooming Camellias decorate the Linnean House, accompanied by the sweet scent of the Fragrant olive trees (Osmanthus fragrans).
Eastern witchhazels are blooming in several locations on the grounds. Large specimens can be found in the Jenkins Daylily Garden, on the berm just west of the Shoenberg Administration Building, and in both the English Woodland and Japanese Gardens.
Fruits of many plants on the grounds are showy at this time. Especially noteworthy are Crabapples, Hawthorns, and American hollies.
Many different varieties of Pansies are being tested for winter hardiness in the Lois Whiteside Franklin Flower Trial Garden at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening.
