Missouri Botanical Garden: Plants in Bloom
AT A GLANCE
APRIL 11 - APRIL 17, 1997
-
PLEASE NOTE: With a hard freeze predicted as this report is being
compiled, the flowering status of some plants is likely to change.
-
Redbuds and White redbuds are now in full bloom.
-
Dogwoods are flowering in the English Woodland Garden.
-
Crabapples are in bloom throughout the grounds.
-
Lilacs are blooming in The Knolls and the Scented Garden.
-
Many Daffodils and early Tulips remain showy throughout the grounds
in spite of recent frosts.
-
Bluebells and other woodland wildflowers are blooming in the
English Woodland Garden.
-
The Fairy primroses are the showiest element of a very colorful
Linnean House.
-
The Temperate House abounds with flowers and fragrance. Especially
showy is the Moorish garden, featuring standards of Rose 'Sunsprite'
and Canary Island broom.
-
Pansies that overwintered in many locations on the grounds are very
showy.
-
Record cold temperatures have damaged the flowers of those Azaleas
and Rhododendrons that were in bloom, and many of those plants whose
buds were showing color. Plants with tight buds appear to have
escaped injury for now and should resume flowering with a return to
normal conditions.
