G.H.Langsdorf took part in the first round-the-world trip of Kruzenshtern as a naturalist. He collected plants in Alaska, California, Kamchatka and Siberia. Later, being the Russian consul in Brasil, he organized a number of expeditions for study of a nature of this country in 1814-1817 and 1821-1829.
