Harry Sampson (1890-1975) was a Paiute Nevada native hired
as a plant collector and interviewer. Mostly, though, natives were informants
about medicinal knowledge and practices. This photo is undated. Hunt Institute
collections. Click image to enlarge.
Taken from his parents and forced to attend the Stewart
Indian School at Carson City, Sampson translated the Paiute language into
English for this WPA project. Hunt Institute collections.
