A simple measure of total species richness per cell reveals that the maximum species richness (19 spp.) occurs in a single cell representing the Protected Area of Betampona RNI.  The second highest center of species richness (17 spp.) occurs at an area currently not within the Protected Areas network, the Tampolo STF along the east coast.
