New or recircumscribed Melanophylla species

The newly described species, Melanophylla modestei, was first collected only in 1986, and is known from a single population near Ambanizana along the boundary of Masoala National Park.  Melanophylla alnifolia is a widespread species at mid-elevation; it is now considered to include M. capuronii, which was formerly recognized based upon a single collection.
